NEWS: MNG Continues to Support the Local Community

As many of you know, the Monday Night Group is a registered charity, and all the money we make from pantomime each year goes back into the local community. That means for every person who bought a seat, paid for an ice cream or grabbed a drink at the interval played their part in raising money for groups and charities in the area. Every member of the Monday Night Group takes their role in pantomime for the sheer joy of being part of the good cause that supports many of the people around us all.

On the 16th of May 2018, our annual presentation evening took place at The Civic in Stourport. This evening is when all the lucky groups and charities gather to accept the cheques presented to them to go towards their own individual good causes. These could be as simple as a new cricket set for a local young persons club, a coach trip to the seaside for an elderly residents group or to fund the purchase of a defibrillator for a local sports team.

This year the Monday Night Group was able to give away a massive £27000 to 91 different groups. This is a huge achievement and thanks goes out to everybody involved in the group, but also to every single person who came to watch us prance around on stage, as without you we wouldn’t be able to support all these groups, many of which would close without their donation each year.

The presentation evening went down a storm as usual, with a welcome return to the helm of Mike George, a long standing supporter and unofficial member of MNG, who brought his own tried and tested mix of comedy and anecdotes that we have all grown to love to the evening.

Thanks again and we hope to see many of you at our next production of ‘Red Riding Hood’ in January 2019.
